Hilarious moments from the weekend:

So my cousin Lanier got married last weekend, which meant a big chance to see my dad's side of the family. I had traveling adventures in the form of airplane screwdrivers at 8 AM (free!) and Jimmy's truck breaking down in Tuscaloosa, and, as always, the Campbell family provided plenty of hilarious quotes, mostly to do with football:

My almost-90-year-old Great Uncle Woodly, channelling Grampa Simpson as he occasionally yelled at the television during the Alabama-Arkansas game: "Sack him, goddammit!"

Everyone else, talking to Woodly, who is deaf as a post: "WOODLY! YOU WANT A BEER?"

My dad's cousin Jack, on Leigh Tiffin: "Kick it so's they can't review it!"

My dad, on my mother's choice of television: "She likes Medium, which is about a woman who sees horrible visions and argues with her husband about them.
Me, in response: "Yeah, it's really hard to see why Mom would identify with that."

And the crowning moment of the weekend, my dad, on Sunday morning: "This may be a silly question, but do y'all feel like you missed out on anything by not being raised in the church?"
Me: "God, no." (Yes, I'm aware of the irony.)
Jimmy: "I don't even know what you're talking about."

Also my Uncle Ray spent the weekend bragging on his two-year-old granddaughter Mary Helen, because she has managed to beat out the record for most time-outs in her day care program in three weeks, when usually it takes kids a full year to build up that many. Ah, family.

I love your stories! It is fun to hear about families. They're so ridiculous... sometimes in a good way. :)

Please remind me to call you and tell you about my Christmas... "experience" might be a good word. Tehe.
